Scrappy picnic

Todays ways to use it challenge fit perfectly for an image I was working on last night. I loved this mucho taco card by Leigh and I knew as soon as I got my hands on this sandwich image from Lifes a picnic by H & M that I wanted to case her card. I stamped the sandwich image twice. I colored the entire image on one and just the top loaf on the second image. I cut a slit on the colored image and used ribbon scraps to look to represent the lettuce, tomato, meat, and cheese. I matted the image on green galore.
I tried 3 times last night to get this image onto a card! Nope! I finally went to bed to leave it. When I got up this morning and I saw Julias challenge well it fit perfectly for my image but also for my desk b/c I had scraps everywhere from the 3 cards that ended up in the trash. I kept the layout super simple b/c I was tired of fighting with this card!LOL! The dp is from American crafts.
We've had alot going on the past couple of days. Alana had to go to the Dr yesterday b/c she was complaining about her throat. Well....we were referred to an EENT b/c her tonsils are abnormally large and she might have sleep apnea. I freaked out when I looked in her mouth here b/c the uvelua(sp???) looked like it was growing into her tonsils. I have never seen anything like that before! Anyway we are waiting for the appointment time from the EENT but in the mean time theyve put on her rhinocort to help her to be able to get some air since her tonsils are large enough they are blocking her air way. Not good for a kid that has ashtma! I had a hard time sleeping last night but as long as I heard her snoring I knew she was fine.
Have a great day!

Cuppacakeabella on a summer picinic

I havent stamped in 2 days! *gasp* I had great plans to stamp the weekend away doing the dirty challenges. Know how many I did??!? Zip! Nada! None!LOL! I hope to try to do a few tommorrow.
This is a card I made Friday for Taylors dirty challenge to use cupcakes and of course I had to combine it with the sketch challenge Taylor hosts on her blog every Friday. I love this fun layout and thought it would be great for showcasing some cute dp. I used 3 patterns from summer picinic dp. I thought the dots on the dp were a cute match for the dots on her dress. I colored bella with gamsol magic. I outlined bella with copic cool gray marker. I colored the dew drop with red prismacolor marker for the cherry. I punched 3 1/2" circles and added clear dew drops. I had to leave off the sentiment b/c I ran out of room!LOL!
Have a great day!

HM color silhouettes

So many challenges so little time!LOL! Heres a combo challenge card for you today. Heather Rolin (hlr976) hosts a sketch challenge every Saturday well last week she decided to throw in a color challenge too. You can combine and do both in one card or you can make two seperate cards or you can do one or the other...so many choices! For this card I chose to use the colors. How yummy are they?!?! Pretty in pink, choc chip, blue bayou, old olive and vanilla! I combined the colors with Joans dirty silhouette challenge. I had to use SU images since Mama has all my H & M stamps! Bad Mama!LOL! I used Garden silhouettes since the challenge was silhouettes how fitting!?!LOL! I have only mounted one image from this set so I challenged myself to ink up one of the other images. Im oh so terrible with flowers names etc so I have no idea what this image is supposed to be.
I started with a pretty in pink textured card base. Im so addicted to textured cs right now! Cant get enough of it! My next layer is old olive stamped tone on tone with french script then linen in choc chip. My blue bayou layer is stamped tone on tone with the silhouette image. For my main image I stamped the silhouette first in choc chip then blue bayou stamped off once then old olive stamped off twice. I really love how it turned out! Now Im wide ribbon challenged but I had this choc chip ribbon out and was determined to use it! It covers up part of my image but I think it looks fine. I punched out two butterfly with my Martha Stewart butterfly punch and popped them up. To finish off my card I added two silver brads to the left of my image. I love how this card turned out! I even stamped the inside! I have gotten bad the past couple of days and have not been doing that so I made myself tonight. I left off a sentiment for now since this card could be used for several different occasions.
Be back later with more challenge cards!

Madison Toothless

In all the dirty craziness this week I forgot to share this with you! Madison lost her first tooth Sunday morning. They had to sing in church that morning and I was picking on Maddie telling her she would have to whistle the song!LOL!
Anyway she lost another one Wed night! She pulled it! I couldnt believe it. The one Sunday morning just kinda fell out but she actually pulled her tooth Wed night. Thank goodness cause Mama cant do that!LOL!

Prehistoric Birdday

School starts here on Aug 7 so I will need lots of kids birthday cards. The class sends a calendar home each month with all the kids birthdays for the month. My kids love to give cards as much as I do.
Todays limited supply challenge is simple birthdays since I messed up last week with the limited part I did keep my layers limited today. My card base is textured apricot appeal. I used the soft sky polka dots prints paper and used dtp for the edges since I didnt layer the paper. I paper pieced the dino from Treehouse stamps with the polka dot apricot appeal paper. I stamped the sentiment from Pun Fun onto the pti white with pumpkin pie ink. I used dtp for the edges of the dino and the white layer. The only embelishment allowed is ribbon so I used my pumpkin pie grosgrain ribbon to make my stay put bow. I think this will work for a girl or boy card what do you think?

Negative Fall Sketch

Im so excited to share with you these adorable sneak peeks from Treehouse stamps. This is an image and sentiment from their Happy Fall Yall set coming soon! Todays ways to use it challenge is negative thoughts. The challenge is to use the negatives of punches, chipboard, etc. I also used Hollys dirty sketch from today. You know I love sketches and Holly is a fantastic stamper so there was no way I could pass that up!LOL!
For my card today I stamped the scarecrow image in pallette noir and colored the image using gamsol magic technique. I cut the image and summer sun oval with my fiskars ovals. The dp I used is American crafts candy corn dp. I love it and the stripes matched the stripes on the scarecrows shirt! How perfect! I punched the oval out of the dp and stamped the sentiment "Happy Fall" onto white and layered under the dp. I used my choc chip marker for the dots around the sentiment and in the top corners. I used choc chip and pumpkin pie ribbon to make my stay put bow. I added 2 silver brads above the ribbon to finish off my card. Have a great day!

Rockin Vanilla Blossoms

I finally got a morning to stamp! Yayy! I have a triple challenge card here today. I used todays sketch challenge, Cc176, and Christines dirty challenge to watercolor.

I love todays sketch! Because I wanted to do a triple challenge I knew I was going to use soft sky, vanilla, and river rock. I also had to find an image that I could watercolor. I thought the colors would make a great elegant card so of course I had to go with flowers. Both way blossoms is still one of my fave flower images to watercolor. I used SU watercolor paper and reinkers to color the flowers. I chose the pattern I love from the prints pack for elegant cards in both soft sky and river rock. I added a vanilla bow to my image and 3 pearl brads. Not a whole lot going on because I think elegant cards should be more simplified. Be back later today with more dirty challenge creations!

Freaky Tiki Birthday

The dirty challenges continue today..There are 3 challenges today and Ive havent been able to do but one. (*pout*) Hopefully I'll get some stamping time tommorrow! I made this card for Julie's challenge to embrace the white space. When I think about one layer cards the first thing that comes to mind are large images. I love this image from Stamp Oasis (Rubbernecker). He's so funny to me! For white card bases I always grab PTI white cs. I love it and its my fave for the gamsol magic technique. I outlined some of the image with the copic marker. I wanted to add a little something else to my card after I used my ribbon so I added 3 dots in the corners with my green galore marker. I messed them up a little but dont tell anyone!LOL!

This card reminds me of Alanas swimsuit it has all these gorgeous bright orange flowers on it. So cute on her! BTW I forgot to share that I have a snagglepuss in the bunch now!LOL! Madison lost her first tooth Sunday morning before church and they sang Jesus loves me that morning during childrens church and she was so cute up there! Have a great night!

Happy Trails

Sorry for the last post today but we had some errands to run this morning so I had to put my stampin time off until this afternoon. Todays begins the week long fun of Dirty Dares. The first challenge is from Laurie the queen of vellum. We were to use vellum and she gave several examples of how to use it. I chose to use the vellum over the dp since I love when she does that! I combined the vellum challenge with this weeks MFT sketch challenge. I love this western sky dp its the first time Ive used and it goes great with the MFT Ride em cowgirl. I just love this cowgirl image! I colored her using copic markers-no paper piecing this time. The circle panel is stamped tone on tone with the flower image from Wanted that is in the paisleys on the dp.

Im not sure I love this card I dont know if its the colors or what. Let me know what you think!

Have a great day!

Taco Bell case

Todays featured stamper is Susiestampalot she has an amazing gallery! I chose her yo quiero taco bell card to case. Ive had this Inkadinkado stamp for a couple of months and have been waiting to use it and as soon as I saw her card I had to use it! Hes so cute and fun to color. I kept her layout but I did change the sentiment and ribbon placement. I didnt have the dp she had but the pattern of the dp reminded me of seeing spots background so I stamped it on the green galore tone on tone. I colored the dog and cactus with copic and prismacolor markers.

Recipe:

Stamps: Muchas Gracias, seeing spots

Ink: Pallette noir

Paper: real red textured, yellow Bazzill textured, green galore, basic black, pti white

Other: striped red grosgrain, paper piercer, fiskars circle, sq punches, copic markers, prismacolor markers

HM sketch and color challenge Dino

Today is Saturday so that means another sketch challenge from Heather and guess what?!?! This week she added a color challenge to it! So of course I had to do both!LOL! I did have to change a couple of things though so lets just say its Shannified!LOL! The color challenge is real red, only orange, yo yo yellow, and so saffron. Well the saffron is where I had the problems. Saffron is actually my least fave yellow and I just couldnt get it to work. I added in wasabi for the trees instead. Sorry Heather! I love the sketch but I had to modify it to manily b/c I forgot the image was a circle image and my dino turned out so cute with his out of the box tail I just couldnt bring myself to do not use him! Its the first time Ive done out of the box cutting since I despise cutting! So since I used a rectangle image instead of a circle I had to move the brad placement. I also added in the sentiment. All the images used on my card are in the Dino day set from H & M. Brayden loves this card! He is a big dino fan and orange is his fave color. He wanted to know if this was his card so I think I will save it for his first day of Kindergarten!

I love how this turned out! Its my first time using this set and I will be using it again very soon! I added a little texture the dino by misting him and colored his spots and toes with yo yo yellow. I outlined him with my copic marker. For my corners I used my red marker and made my dots. Its hard to see in the pic but the real red layer has the footprints stamped tone on tone. Hope you like it as much as I do!

If you want to play along add the keywords HMsc4 for the sketch challenge or HMcc1 for the color challenge. Have a great day!

Cider Buckle Friend

Todays challenge is folding. Now I hate HATE folding clothes! Hate it!! But I love doing unique folds on cards. I decided to do a fold I havent done in awhile. The big buckle card is a fun fold to do and really simple. The first thing that came to mind was of course a western card but I decided to pull out my very neglected apple cider paper. I love this paper and bought 2 packs of it and sadly I think Ive used 2 sheets. Why do we do that?!??!
For my flower image I inked up the stamps with SU markers and the wild wasabi reinker and a fantastix. When I stamped the image it didnt quite turn out how I wanted so I colored a couple of the bridal flowers instead and attached them with a brad. All edges are sponged with choc chip ink and the main image is popped up on dimensionals. I tried to limit my embelishments so I decided to leave off ribbon since I used 6 brads. Shhhh! Dont tell the challenge police!LOL! Isnt it funny how you end up using more of something after you are not supposed to! I usually never use more than 3-4 brads on a card! But I sat down trying to do the challenge and just kept adding brads! Its like dieting Im not a big sweet eater but let me start a diet and you better hide the chocolate!LOL! I have no self control but that will be our little secret too!
Im off to try to see if I can get some sleep now. Its almost 3 am here and I know my kids will be up early in the morning just b/c I couldnt sleep tonight! Have a great day!

Summer Plaid Cupcake

Wow todays challenge was well...a challenge. We were to find something in our kitchen like spices and use them in our card. So as I was looking through my spices I ran across the pink sugar crystals I used on Madison's cupcakes for her bday last year. I know its not an orginal idea but I've been wanting to use this Cupcake set from Inkadinkado.
I paper pieced the cupcake with KI memories Summer plaid dp. The cupcake was colored using SU and copic markers. I stamped the sentiment and went over it with SU markers and added dots under the sentiment. I went over the frosting with Tulip diamond puffy paint and sprinkled the sugar on top. This is where plans went a little downhill!LOL! The water (or whatever) in the puffy paint didnt mesh well with the crystals. The crystals sorta dissolved! OOPSS! Oh well! I added ribbon tabs secured with silver brads and also added brads to the pumpkin pie panel. The striped dp is KI memories Summer stripe.

We had a great time yesterday in Albany. We just made a day of it and went to the movies, school shopping, etc. Brayden kept asking on the way was it still his bday so I just told him yeah since we were technically going to see the movie for his bday. He loved the Hulk movie! Madison sat with her fingers in her ears and her head buried in her knees on the fight scenes!LOL! So housework awaits today! Yuckkk! After Danny being here with the kids all weekend and us coming and going the way we have the past few days my house needs some serious attention! Have a great day!

Brayden Hulked up

I had to pop in here tonight before collapsing in bed!LOL! Brayden had a great day today! We will be going to see the Hulk tommorrrow for the rest of his bday since we just ran out of time today! We went to his fave restaraunt to eat lunch. He has been so excited all day! My MIL wanted to let them throw the pie in his face at La Cabana and I said No way since he had on a new outfit. He is hulk to the bone here including is new hulk unders (that was his call his underwear uhmm when he wears them!LOL!) His nickname is Commando!LOL!

Okay so I have to share a story about why I had to run home and post this pic. My family will appreciate this pic more than anyone! My fave pic of me as a little girl is of me standing in my Daddys boots which of course went all the way up my thighs!LOL! Im standing there giving everybody my Hulk growl!LOL! I was quite obsessed with the Hulk as a little girl. I love this pic of Brayden just b/c of my pic. I cant wait to scrap them side by side! Isnt it funny how history repeats itself! I know as my Moms reading this she probably has this huge smile on her face and is LnOL!

These are Braydens huge Hulk hands to smash and crash! When you hit them against each other or other things ( like his big sisters!) You hear the hulk growling and saying Dont make me angry! You wont like me when Im angry! So fast forward to a couple of hours later when Brayden is enjoying another bday present his new Sports pack to go with his Wii. It has a tennis racket, bat, and golf club. He loves his Wii! Well of course the girls wanted to play and took it from Brayden. What does he say! Dont make me angry! You wont like me when Im angry! In his best growling Hulk voice! It was so funny I couldnt even scold him for not sharing!
Lastly is a pic of Braydens cupcakes. It kinda looks scary!LOL! But of course its the Hulk. FYI half of these cupcakes ended up being destroyed in a cupcake fight I innocently started! Long story will have to share later lets just say thank goodness it was at my MIL house and not mine!LOL!
Have a great night! I'll be back in the am with a sketch challenge card!

Almost Wild Flying Saffron Stars

Happy Tuesday! Today is a great day! Its Braydens bday! He is 5 yrs old today! Happy Birthday Buddy!

We had a fabulous time this weekend at the retreat! Faith and her husband really did an awesome job! Big thanks to the both of them! Im on inspiration overload!LOL! On our way to the retreat we just had to stop in Valdosta for some shopping. I got this super cute Penny black flying stars stamp. I couldnt believe they actually had Penny black stamps! Our HL never has anything!LOL! What was even better is I had a 40% off coupon. Gotta love that!
Todays color challenge is so saffron, almost amethyst, and wild wasabi. I stamped the image on pti white with pallette noir and colored with SU markers. Faith made me realize how much Ive neglected my SU markers and I also remebered seeing on someones blog if you went over the celery 3 times it was wild wasabi. I used Hollys easy peasy ribbon and dew drops for embellishments. Todays card is a simple and quick card b/c we're off to spend the day celebrating with my little man! Have a great day!

Sealife flowers

Good morning! As you reading this Im stamping it up at Faiths retreat with some fellow SCS!

I made this card for Heathers Saturday sketch challenge. I love this dolphin! Hes so cute! Ive been trying to use my in colors since they are about to retire. I think soft sky and blue bayou was probably one of the most popular color combos with this set of in colors we've had. I colored the dolphin image with copic markers and used my square nesties to matt the image. I have tons and tons of the prints in all the colors so Ive been trying to use up some of them too!LOL! When I saw the flowered print I remeber my latest find at Michaels. I saw on Laurens blog where she has been using the bridal flowers from Michaels and you can color them with your copics! The flowers have a shimmer to them even after you color them and they come in a cute clear paint can that will be fun to alter later! Have a great weekend!

Dont get carried away

I dont have anything new I created to share with you today so I thought Id show you a card I made for my Dad for Fathers Day. I love this tow truck image from Hambo! This looks alot like my Dads tow truck when I was about 5 yrs old. Im a complete Daddys girl and I always loved going with Daddy in the truck! He loved this card!
The main image is stamped with black stazon and colored with prismacolor pencils and blended wit gamsol. I added crystal effects to the windows and headlights. I used my prismacolor black marker to make the lines for the road. I also added silver brads to the center of the tires. The main image is also popped up on dimensionals. The going gray layer is stamped with linen in black it kinda reminds me of a road texture or tires I really cant figure out which one but either way it works for this card!LOL! This is one of the cards I kept messing with and ended up almost messing it up! I added corner piercing and tried to use the black marker but that didnt show up too well so I went back over it with the white gel pen. I also added piercing to the ruby red base on both sides of the image.

We're off today heading to FL for Faiths stamping retreat! Hope you have a great day!

Watermelon crawl

Hello all! Ive been super busy the past couple of days getting my shoebox swaps ready for Faiths stamping retreat this weekend! Woohoo! Today Ive been busy washing clothes because as always the clothes have reproduced overnite!LOL!

Okay so I know this girl is technically too young to do or probably even know what the watermelon crawl is!LOL! I cant help it everytime I see this image that song pops into my head! Thanks alot Heather!LOL! For those of you who are scratching your heads saying what is she babbling about?!?!? Watermelon crawl is a country song by Tracy Byrd. So some of the lyrics are "if you ever round in Ga round about July and you aint in hurry then outta stop by I can guarantee that youre gonna have a ball learning how to do the watermelon crawl." Well guess what its July and Im here in GA!LOL! Okay enough of that on to the card....

I used Heathers sketch for this week hmsc2. Heather post a sketch on her blog every Saturday so join in! I thought this sketch would be cute with this adorable image. She is so cute with all that watermelon juice on her face. She looks like Madison!LOL! I watercolored the image something I havent done in forever! Im not the most patient person so watercoloring is not my favorite coloring technique. I also used the sentiment from this set Celebrate the day .

I will be back with a quick post in the morning before we head off for the weekend! Have a great day!

Recipe:

Stamps: Celebrate the day H & M stamps

Ink: Black Stazon

Paper: Regal rose, textured celery, celery, basic black, watercolor

Other: black gingham ribbon, silver brads, black pen, dimensionals, fiskars circles

Groovy Hanna Banana Chips

Todays color challenge is groovy guava, chocolate chip, and barely banana. A great color combo! I used Jens sfytt for my layout and I think my mojo went on vacation!LOL!
I havent used my Hanna stamps in awhile so I pulled out my fave Hanna image to play with today. The image was really too large to use for the sketch so you cant see the bags on the squares. I used some afternoon tea dp and the embrace life dp (cant remeber the name) to paper piece her dress and some of the bags. The afternoon dp is one of my faves! I colored the image with copic markers and prismacolor pencils blended with gamsol.
Have a great day!

Family Reunion

Sorry in all my excitement about my card on Friday I forgot to mention I would be MIA this weekend. We have a BIG family reunion 4th of July weekend. We had an awesome time but no stamping! Hopefully I will get to play tommorrow. Kids are passed out they've had a big day! We just got home from a big fireworks show. Brayden hid behind the truck most of the time b/c he thought the fireworks were coming to get him!LOL! Hope you all had a great holiday!

MFT Birthday

So were you at the MFT release party last nite? I was for like 15 minutes and my head was spinning!LOL! Then mother duty called!
Michelle post a challenge every month during the release party to be a guest designer for MFT. Who wouldnt want that?!?!LOL! This months challenge is to create a birthday card since its MFT 2nd birthday and Kim turns 40 this weekend. I had to use You take the cake. This is still my fave set to pull out for bdays! Okay so I had this idea for my card that I think I pulled off!LOL!

My green galore card base is scored with diagonal lines every inch for todays challenge she scores I did this to match the bottom present on the main image. I used SU jersey shore dp to match the polka dotted present. The real red strip has two score lines 1/4" apart below the sentiment and above the striped ribbon. I added a bazzil flower with some bling to the top left corner. My front is supposed to be the present/box.

Then when you open the inside.....

The party begans!LOL! Okay so my initial thought was kinda like girl jumping out of the cake. Dont ask me why?!! Probably from some of the demented talk that goes on during the release party!LOL! So mine is more like girl popping out of the present with cake! The image is paper pieced with summer picinic dp for the wallpaper. The cake is also popped up okay I have to explain my cake too..I colored my cake kinda like a red velvet cake since its my Moms fave so I added little brown dots on the topping to look like chopped pecans!LOL! I also added diamond stickles to the candles. The background was too plain and there was no way I was going to try to layer some dp and get the slits cut the same as the white for the pop up!LOL! So I doodled the ballons and confetti dots. I drew the balloons and added used a white gel pen for a highlight. I cant believe I have no balloon stamps! How did that happen?!?LOL! I stamped the sentiment and candles on the bottom of the card. This is my first pop up card! It was not as hard as I thought but it did take some time! I love how it turned out though!

Here is a close up of the pop up (dont look too closely or you'll see my awful cutting!LOL!) Have a great day!

Wintergreen Sealife

I have a confession! Im dp challenged! I love dp and have plenty of it to prove it!LOL! All the colors, patters, etc! My faves are stripes and polka dots. I can use them no problem but when it comes to other patterns I draw a blank when it comes to using more than one design. I see so many fabulous card with mixes of dp and think I NEVER would have thought to mix those!
So for today I thought Id mix things up a little. I love todays sketch challenge! Awesome layout! I started with my H & M turtle from the Sealife set. I love this turtle! Isnt he the cutest?!?! I colored the turtle when I was praticing with my new copics. I used bg10 cool shadow, g21 lime green, and e33 sand to color my turtle I also used my white gel pen to add some highlights. The turtle is layered on certainly celery and then soft sky. Okay so at this point I have my creamy caramel card base, my layered turtle image and so I go digging for dp.....I pulled out several different sheets of dp trying to find what I wanted to use then I saw the soft sky pattern from the Wintergreen. I decided to pair it up with my least fave design in the prints pack. I attached both the patterns to a textured soft sky layer. I added in the polka dot ribbon and popped my main image up on dimensionals. To finish off my card I pulled out my neglected colored brads and used celery brads on each side of the ribbon. What do you think of my mixed up card!?!?!

Have a great day!

Purely Wild Frogs

I had a hard time with todays color challenge. I finally had to put my card down and go jump in the pool for a little while then come back to it!LOL!

With 2 greens in the color challenge of course the first thing that popped into my head was flowers but I wasnt in a flower mood today. I pulled out Frolicking frogs instead and played with it. I colored the main image with prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol. I used copic bg10 cool shadow for the water. I used the spotlight technique on the frogs stamped along the celery panel. I also stamped the frogs on the inside of the card which is something I always forget to do!

Short post today! I havent been feeling all that great! Hopefully I'll be more chatty tommorrow. Have a great day!
