Elegant Baroque Birthday

I made this card for an elegant birthday card which I dont feel I pulled off. I usually dont do elegant cards its just not my style. I made this card at my Moms so I used some of her sheer ribbon its actually the main thing I like about the card but it was harder to tie it in a bow. I stamped the baroque swirl in craft white on kraft paper. The sentiment is stamped on naturals white in river rock and the baroque is stamped halfway off. I think that is what messes me up with this card-the color combo.
I am rearranging today so probably no stamping again today. I love the challenges they are posting for the Dare to get Dirty I just havent had time to do many of them. When I get my desk set back up Im going to try to go through them and post on here since the gallery will be closed for posting on Thursday. Have a great day!

3 Little Fishies

Hello all! Hope you had a great weekend. We had a great time Saturday at Chehaw the kids loved the birds of prey show and seeing all the animals except the goats cause they stink! teehee! The kids werent too thrilled w/them. I had a terrible ear & tooth ache the entire day but tried to ignore it and enjoy the day w/the kids. As soon as we got home I loaded up on medicine and passed out!LOL! Needless to say I didnt do any challenges from Saturday. I did get to work on some yesterday I will post later in the week. For today I wanted to share with you a RAK I received with an awesome story behind it.

I was going through the gallery after I posted my challenge card one day(I dont remeber what challenge) making comments on others card and seeing what they had came up w/for the challenge and I stumbled across this card by Cindy aka Mothermark on SCS. The title of the card was 3 little fishies and I started singing this song in my head my Granny Hickey (yes her real last name) used to sing to me. So I click on the card and starting reading Cindy's story for the day. I love looking at her cards and reading all her stories.LOL! She made this card thinking of the song and all she could remeber was the part of the chorus. So Im laughing and jumping my chair and make a comment with the verse that I remeber from the song. Within minutes Cindy sent me a pm saying That's it! So I tell Cindy my Granny used to sing me that song and she wanted my address to mail me the card in honor of my Granny. Of course the first thing I do is grab the phone and call my Mom. I tell her to look the card and read Cindys story and to read my comment and shes about half way through reading my comment before we are both balling! Its so funny how Cindy had no idea when she made that card that she would make our day by bringing back such a fond memory. My Granny Hickey passed away years ago and I miss her dearly! I wish sometimes she could put my babies in her lap just once and sing this song to them like she did for me. The verse I commented on Cindys card was this:
Down in the meadow in a itty bitty pool
swam 3 little fishies and a mama fish too
swim said the mama fish swim if you can
and they swam and they swam right over
the dam.
You can see Cindys card w/all the other comments about her card I think BadSherry posted the name of the song and the singer in her gallery on SCS. Just click on Memeber galleries and type in Mothermark in the search field>go and it will pull up her gallery. A big thank you to Cindy for this card! Its definetly one I will never give away!

Happy Harmony Toile

I love how this card turned out. Even though they are retired these are two sets I will never get rid of Happy Harmony and French Script. They go so great together. One of our challenges during the Dare to get dirty was to make a toile card. Toile means stamping on a white or cream base w/one color. I used very vanilla and blue bayou for my card. I consider these type of cards to be more elegant and for me elegant cards need a simpler layout. I really dont like "busy" elegant cards. My layout is a simple layout w/just three brads under the main image.

I havent completed any of the challenges from yesterday yet but hopefully will get to work on them today or tommorrow and post a few for you. Hope you have a great day! We are heading to Chehaw Park for the day and then going to my kids favorite place to eat LOGAN's!

lsc126 Its Not all Black & White

Todays challenge was to use black ink on white paper-No coloring! You could pretty your card up by using DP. This was a great challenge for me b/c I have a couple of off days and I needed an easy challenge. I've had this DP for over a year its out of one of the paper slabs for HL.

I matted the DP on going gray and then onto basic black card base. I used silver cord across the card in an x shape. The main image is Elegant greetings and I embossed the image w/black ep. I notched the corners and put silver brads. I just love silver w/black, white, gray color combo! The Happy birthday image is matted on bb and gg.

Another day of challenges at SCS today! Hopefully I can come up with something to redeem myself!LOL!

I love Basic Greys 6x6 pads they are so perfect for card making. My new order isnt here yet so I had to improvise on the challenge and use things that were new to me!
Stamps: baroque motifs

Gettin Dirty!

If you are not a fan club memeber of SCS you are sure missing out on some stamping fun this week! This week is the 3 year anniversary of the Dirty Dozen so this week the current and past dirty girls are posting challenges. Today we had four challenges. I think there will be four during the weekdays and 8 on Sat. and Sun. There are no time limits and its so fun!
This is one of the cards I made for todays challenges. I love this new Batty for you set its so funny! The Dp is the new Creepy Crawly Dp. FYI the batty for you fits in the 1 3/8" circle punch and the images in the middle you can punch out w/the 1" circle punch to pop them up or stamp in a different color. I did both of the above on this card. The trick or treat image is a stamp I got last fall from Michaels $1 bin.

CC124 Fluffes Thanks

Isnt Fluffles just the cutest?!?! I made this card for todays color challenge: pretty in pink, regal rose, and old olive. If you havent played along in the challenges head over to SCS and check them out! When Im stuck on a certain color combo or sketch I love to do past challenges just to mix it up a little!
For todays card I stamped the flower from background basics in regal rose on pretty in pink and layered on my old olive card base. I cut a 3 1/2" circle to layer my scallop on and placed the ribbon b/w the circle and scallop layers. My fluffles is colored w/prisma pencils: limepeel, pink, and pink rose. I also used French Gray 30% for a shadow. I have a list of prisma pencils that match SU colors except the new in colors I dont have those yet. If you would like me to email you the list leave a comment w/your email address or just email me : sadersk@yahoo.com
Hope you all have a great day! Happy Stampin!

Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge

Every Friday Beate over at Fresh and Fun has a weekend sketch challenge she posts. I love allt he sketches she has chosen Im still stuck on week #8 sketch. Love it and I cant stop using it! This is just a warning that I made a card using it this weekend so you will be seeing it again this week. LOL! I thought I would give you a break from Baroque Motifs although I did you use it for my Featured Stamper challenge card-not my fault she used Carte Postale and I wanted to keep the same feel of the card! If you havent checked it out head over to SCS to check out Ana's gallery or click on the link for Ink A Stamp under my awesome blogs.

Okay for this card I used Looks like spring and the flower punch. The top panel is pixie pink and always artichoke. The bottom panel is from the POP in celery. To cover up where all the paper meets I cut a 1/4" strip of certainly celery and pierced it. I went over my piercings on the celery strips and the oval scallops w/the white gel pen. The main image is the large flower from the Looks like spring set stamped off 2 x's before stamping on my WW then I stamped the sentiment from Its your bday in artichoke and layered on the artichoke scalloped oval. The flowers on the pixie pink panel are stamped tone on tone and I went over the center w/diamond stickles.

I hope you all had a great weekend! My Dad is 52 years old day. Happy Birthday Daddy! We grilled and spent the evening w/him last night and celebrated. Have you ever seen a kitten attack a child? It was so funny the kids had been chasing a new kitten my Dad has the entire night and we were getting ready to leave and Madison was running over to Daddy to tell him bye and this kitten had been stalking her in the bushes and jumped out at her! It was so cute! He was just getting her back! On a sad kitty note w/a cute twist. My oldest daughter has had a cat named Topaz since she was 2 and we found her dead under the porch Sat. night. She had a bad cut on her arm(a hawk or owl) and we had treated it but I think it was already bad before we ever found it. So we had to sit down and have the talk w/the kids about death we've had brief conversations when distant relatives have passed but thankfully no close realtives have passed so they have not had to really deal w/death yet. I didnt really want them to they are still so young. Well after we had the talk my middle girl Madison goes around looking for the phone and Danny asked her what she was doing. She was firing mad she was calling God to tell him she wanted her cat back. You would have to know my little girl she is such a cutie pie!!! Danny had to hide the phones b/c she was adament (sp) she was calling God and telling him she was getting her cat back. Well you would have thought she would forget about it right?!?! Nope...at church Sunday during children's church in front of the entire congregation she announces to everyone she is mad at God b/c he took her cat!

LSC125 Monochromatic Cards

I have another early post for you today...very early!LOL! I loved this challenge! Mainly b/c of this awesome color combo but I cant take credit for it Julie reneejul1 on SCS posted a card w/this color combo a couple of weeks ago! It instantly went into my faves anxiously awaiting the arrival of my groovy guava paper and ink! Thanks Julie for the fab combo!
Okay so for today's challenge. Mono cards w/no embellies! Okay I can do this I'll just add more layers!!! I used groovy guava for my card base stamped in really rust with the Baroque swirl. I layered a strip of blush blossom and rust for a faux ribbon look not so sure it worked out! The 2nd panel is blush blossom stamped with swirl in rust (stamped off once before stamping on the blush) then the flower in guava and layered on guava cs. The 3rd panel is the baroque image stamped half way I saw this in the gallery and cant remeber who did it but I loved it! The barqoue is stamped in guava and cherish in rust on blush then layered w/rust and guava. All layers are distressed and sponged w/rust.
I love how the colors on this card turned out but Im not so sure about the layout. It may be just a tad late for me!! I may move it around in the morning but the kids were up late tonight so Im hoping they will sleep in so I wanted to go ahead and post. PLUS I was so excited about using these colors as I was laying in bed all the ideas kept popping in my head and I just couldnt sleep. Dont you hate that....that happens to me alot Im laying in bed TRYING to go to sleep and I start thinking of all the things I need to do for the next day like tonight I was thinking of the colors hmmm..what stamp set...OOOHHH I have got to get started on my cards for my class.....did I lock my car?!! You know the drill ladies I know we all do it!
Hope you all have a great weekend if I dont check back in today! Maybe the kids will be good again today for me to get a second card in. Check out my gallery I got 2 cards in for Thursday's challenge. Oh, and here is the link for Julies beautiful card. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/587828?cat=fav

Ways to Use It- Corners

Todays challenge was to decorate your corners using things like brads, paper piercing, etc but not using standard corner punches. I saw this corner decorating tip in the current CTMH book and have been wanting to try it but kept putting it off so today was perfect for it. Take a 2" sq piece and found in half twice creating quarters. Fold two corners in to the middle fold to create the corners shown. I used eyelets and 1/4" ribbon from Ribbons and Bows Oh My on mine.

Okay for the rest of the card now...I just got this ice cream set from CTMH I think its retired now its called I Scream. Just imagine the ice cream is closer to the glass! LOL! I just couldnt get it right! I colored the ice cream and glass w/prisma pencils and blended w/gamsol. I applied Crystal Stickles on the ice cream. The cs is textured cs I got from Walmart. The DP was my inspiration and starting point for this card. It was in a slab from Paper Studio. It reminds me of Dippin Dots. You know the ice cream! So thats how my card was born. The hardest thing was finding cs to match the colors in the DP!

Stamps: I Scream-CTMH, So very

Paper: Bashful Blue, textured cs-Non SU, WW, DP-Paper Studio from HL

Ink: black staz-on, bashful blue pencil, cream pencil

Ass. ribbon, stickles, circle punches

Karen Foster Snap Stamps

Okay blonde moment story to share! I've been wanting these Karen Foster snap stamps for awhile now. These are great for creating your own sentiments. I've found several but I wanted this font (casual) so I went over to Create for less and got so excited that I found them that I just ordered them! Well they came in yesterday in this big box. I thought wow thats a big box for a little alphabet. WRONG! Not a little alaphabet. These are 1" letters! OOPPSS! Well I still love them but Im on the search for 1/4" letters in casual now and I will defintely be paying closer attention to the size this time!

cc123 Rustic Flowers

I finally sat at my desk today to make something other than Bday invitations and cards. My MIL bday was yesterday so we spent the day w/her. Today is the first time I was able to even sit at my desk since Thursday! So now that the bdays are over w/until next month I have thank you's and a swap to get started on but today I just wanted to play so I decided to do the color challenge. Todays colors were bordering blue, night of navy, mellow moss, and optional arthichoke that I did not use. I used Beate sketch again. I love this sketch! I also used a new stamp set my Mom got that I had to break in for her Rustic Flowers by CTMH. The celebrate is from Paper Trey Ink butterfly kisses set. I stamped the flower once is bordering blue and once in night of navy then layered the smaller flower stamped in mellow moss all flowers are held together w/the brad and on a dimensional. Both of the scallops are paper pierced but you can see it in pic, I also pierced under the you that is part of a "thinking of you" sentiment w/the stamp set.

Paper: WW, night of navy, bordering blue
Inks: mellow moss, bordering blue, night of navy
Stamps: Rustic Flowers-CTMH, Butterfly kisses-Papertreyink
Ass. Ribbon from Ribbons and bows oh my, brad, dimensionals, paper piercer, scallop punches

Dino Party

The dino party Saturday turned out really great! I was soooo happy! This is Braydens cake I had made for him. No one had anything to do a dino cake with (cake kits, etc.) I had a bunch of little ldinosaurs left over from the rocks so I told them how I wanted it decorated and added the animals myself. The candles are some I got from the Dollar Store awhile back. Brayden loved his cake! He was so funny the whole day he was so excited. He didnt understand that his birthday party was on Sat. but his birthday was Sunday so when everyone was telling him "Happy Birthday" on Sunday he keep saying "its my bday AGAIN!" The second pic is from the dino dig. BIG HIT at the party!

Okay cute little story to share. Sunday DH had to go help my Dad put on a range hood and brought Braydens card back w/him. Brayden was opening the card and Dad had put 10 $1 bills in the card. Well you know how kids do stuff Brayden just opens the card and money just starts falling out of the card. My MIL and I starting running to him trying to grab the money playing w/him like we were going to take his money. So he's standing there w/the money clutched at his chest and yells "I got a million dollards!" SO ADORABLE! Okay I know I have a biased opinion but he's so cute!

Dino Party Goodies

I thought I'd share with you the buckets I made for Brayden's Dino Party this weekend. We are having a dino dig so I made each of the kids their own dino bucket. I got the buckets at Dollar Tree and it came with a shovel. Each bucket has bubbles and a cello bag stamped w/the dinos and filled with candy and a dino.

Brayden is getting so excited about his party. This is actually his first party that's just for him. Madison's bday is Aug 23 so we usually had their party together about the 1st of Aug so that is was in b/w their bdays. I think every party they have had has been a pool party.

Okay funny story to share I have no idea how me and my DH have survived these 3 children of ours with our weak stomachs. My Mama seems to get a kick out that for some reason....anywhooo I hate coffee and the way it smells! Well the dino rock recipe is coffee, dirt, flour, salt, and water. Digusting!!! You should have seen me and DH trying to make the rocks last night! LOL! They look like dino doodie instead of dino rocks!!LOL!

Hope you have a great stampin day!

CC122 Unfrogettable brights

Hey everyone! Todays color challenge was to to use real red, greeen galore, and tempting turquiose and these colors just screamed unfrogettable to me! This card was completely inspired by a card MaryJo Albright posted on SCS a couple of days ago. She has an awesome gallery and blog check it out at www.mja.wordpress.com
I used Beate weekend sketch challenge for the layout of this card. Such a fun layout! The flower is a quickutz daisy( I think) with a green brad. All images are colored with prisma pencils and blended with gamsol. The grass was made by using the corner punch to make scallops and making cuts but not all the way to the end of the paper. I layered a think strip of green on top of my cuts so they all look even. All the images except for the mushroom behind the frogs leg are up on dimensionals so this will probably be a card I wont mail LOL! I had alot of fun making it though! Hope you enjoy it to!
Well today marks the countdown to school and work 30 days. The kids and I are marking our calendars and couting them down. This is our last summer together before I go back to work and everyone is in school. My youngest starts prek (sniff sniff). So over the next month I probably will not be posting everyday but I still will be posting 3-5 x/wk. If you want to be notified when I do update you can subscribe to my blog and you will get email notices when I've updated. Hope you all have a great day. Happy Stampin!

Pick a Petal

I made this card a few days ago and Im just getting around to sharing it with you. When I first saw the new in colors I couldnt wait to see how groovy guava looked with cool carribean. My card base is guava. The strip is carribean with the flower center stamped randomly in carribean. I stamped canvas in guava on WW and did fingerwalking for a more subtle look. The petals of the flower were stamped in carribean on WW. I stamped the center in guava on WW and colored the center in w/my carribean marker. The ribbon is from ribbon and bow oh my. I also used my HH that I got can you believe this is the first time I've gotten any from SU!?!?!?
If you dont know how to make your own in color markers let me help you....The blender pen tip comes out this is how you refill it. If you dont have the refill recipe email me and I will send it to you. Okay back to the markers..you take the tip off and soak it in drops from your reinker I think about 5-6 then you put tip back on and you have a in color marker for omitting, color spritzting, etc. My fab upline showed me this after she went to regionals. You can get 1 pack of SU blender pens and make all 6 incolor markers and use a address label on each end to identify you colors.
We have a family reunion tommorrow and then fireworks again tommorrow night here a local farmer always has a huge fireworks show for the town. We have a couple we hang out with that has kids about our age so we are all going to get together tommorrow for the show and let the kids go crazy!

LSC123 Catty Case

I loved today Limited supply challenge because its something I've wanted to do since seeing the new catty. Todays challenge was to case a card in the catty. This year the cards, scrapbook pages, everything is so good. I like all the cards in the catty much better this year! I chose to case the card on page 103 for the new set Ginormous flowers and since I dont have this set yet I improvised. I used the flower from On board Accents and colored it with my Versamagic Pixie dust. I punched a 1" circle out of taken with teal and my little pieces flower was punched with a 1/2" circle. I used my bling from Eclectic Paperie for the center of the little pieces flower. I went around my little pieces image with my white gel pen. My circle cut in the middle of my card was done with my Fiskars. Now my circle was supposed to be 3 1/2" but my flower didnt fit and it messed up while I was cutting it so I had to go to 4". The textured cs is some I got from Walmart. I pierced around the inside of my circle and went over it with the white gel pen. The paper knot on the side of the circle is to cover up an uh-oh and as Kelly always says there are no mistakes just embelishment opportunities! The strips of paper at the top are polka dots and paisley dp and tempting turquiose with turquiose staples. The tab is a 1" circle with grateful from cute converse stamped in regal rose. Sorry the pic isnt that good again today. Im out of batteries here and I think its time to change them again! So off to Walmart we go today! Hope you have a great day! happy stampin

Last one I promise

This is the last card I made using the Summertime stamps. This card is a little on the bright side! The card base is yoyo yellow stamped with canvas in basic black. The green galore layer is stamped with the fruit slices from Citrus and Such. I embossed the image with black ep and colored w/SU markers. Embossing is a great way to get your color to "fall" into place. I love images embossed and watercolored but I wanted a more vivid color with this image so I used markers instead. I used colors from bold brights to color the image. FYI you cant use gamsol on embossed images it takes the ep off ask me how I know!

I sponged the main image w/real red and layered it on real red then basic black. The blue ric rac I got from Hobby Lobby and matches brilliant blue perfectly!

I used basically the same things on each card. 1 strip of paper the main image and mats and one embelishment or accent to show the different looks you can get w/a few supplies. Hope you enjoy it!

Quick Summertime card

This is another card I made for my Mom using the Summertime stamp. When I want a quick card I love using cardstock quality DP for my card base. I used American Craft DP here. The strip is chocolate chip and is pierced at the bottom but you can see it in the pic. I stamped the image in cameo coral and matted it on cameo coral and summer sun. I went over the heart, van, and mountains in the stamp w/stickles. The card is a 4x4 square. I love square cards! Now my Mom will have two cards to give to her friends and wish them a happy and safe vacation!

Summertime Mystery Watercolor

Hello everyone! Today Im sharing with you some cards I made for my Mom. Yesterday while we were playing I went through some of her Close to my heart stamps. This was the stamp of the month last month that she received. She loved the stamp set but after looking at it had a hard time trying to find ways to use it. So...darling daughter that I am I brought it home to help inspire her.
I used a technique called Watercolor Mystery I found it on Ericka Martins awesome blog. Its a simple techinque to use and you get different results everytime. My Moms favorite technique is embossing so I thought this would be right up her alley. You stamp your image w/versamark on white paper and use clear embossing powder. Color your image w/watercolor crayons and blender w/aquapainter. Let your image dry and iron your image in between two sheets of computer paper to take off the embossing. If you want to see the tutorial visit Ericka's blog. www.stampinmama.typepad.com
The summertime image is layered on close to cocoa and regal rose (it looks bright pink in the pic though!) The strip is green galore and the ribbon is American Crafts. I used Basic Grey Phoebe paper and sanded it over my white card base. Remeber you can always click on the pic if you would like to see it larger.

Sc131 Christmas in July

Hey everyone! I hope you a fabulous day today! We had a classic 4th of July here. Grilling, swimming, watching fireworks/firecrackers, and (tryin) to catch fireflies. It was a day filled with my favorite things family, fun, stampin, and good food. The kids have sacked out from complete exhaustion from the day!
While at my Moms today we decided to do some playin and do the sketch challenge for today. I decided to pull out this fluffles image since I dont have it and play with it and it was the perfect size for the image in todays sketch. He is so cute! I watercolored the fluffles image using pencils and blender pen. I went over the christams spirit w/the pencils and then w/the blender pen to make it stand out. I used the blue to make a shadow around fluffles which actually didnt turn out the way I wanted but I did it last and didnt want to redo the image so I just went with it! The fluffles image is matted on glorious green, brilliant blue, and real red. I stamped crosshatch on the second layer w/glorious green and used the gel pen to put some dots(that I should have left out) on the crosshatch. The brilliant blue layer has the lights stamped in black stazon then I stamped the lights again in white and colored them to pop them up on the blue layer. The lights are from Michaels $1 bin from this past Christmas. The ribbon is from Walmart. The card base is real red.
Check out my Moms card in the SCS gallery under n5stamper.

CC121 Baroque Motifs

I love this new stamp set! When I first saw it I was like "uck so not my style" but after seeing some great cards on SCS I had to have it! Go check out the gallery at SCS for some gorgeous cards using this set. I decided to case a card by stamper addict for this card. I loved her layout and how she stamped the the main panel. I changed it up a little so it was not exactly like hers but its still pretty close.

Todays color challenge was inspired by the new Basic Grey paper called Infuse. Check out Eclectic Paperie to see the new line. The color in todays challenge are pretty in pink, old olive, and chocolate chip. I also used sahara sand as a neutral color in my card.

Hope you all have a safe and happy 4th of July! Hopefully the weather will permit for the classis 4th of July celebrations here. We plan to swim, grill, watch fireworks, and catch some fireflies.

Happy Stampin!

River Rock Zoofari

Have I said yet how much I love the new Incolors!! They are so awesome! I finally got a chance to play with some of my goodies. I find it hard to sit down and come up with my own card at looking at so many on SCS. I waited a little bit to place my preview order and Im glad I did but after seeing everyone else's cards it's hard to sit down and come up with a card that yours! I kept everything on this card pretty simple The card base is basic black. The second layer is river rock stamped with on the spot background with my personal fave tone on tone. I know you see on here I use alot of tone on tone stamping but its my fave for a subtle look. I got some cute ribbon for a dog scrapbook I made for MIL and I used some I had leftover on this card. It feels like suede. I also pierced both corners of the river rock layer and stamped the sentiment from Wild about you in basic black. The cheetah is colored with the blender pen and pad. It is layered on river rock and basic black on then popped up.

I will be posting later at night from now on it's just easier for me to post after kiddies have gone to bed so I can think! Im so not a morning person so you dont wont me babbling incoherently(sp) in the morning! Have a great night!

Happy Stampin!
