Scarlet Garden

Todays sketch challenge was difficult for me. I made 2 cards for the sketch. This is my 2nd card and I like it much better than the first card I made. The main image was supposed to be no wider thank 1 1/2" and mine is 1 3/4". I also replaced the B panel with ribbon. I used Basic grey scarlet letter dp matted on black for all my layers. I stamped french script inked in pallette noir on the red layer. On the main image the french script is stamped off once before staming on the dp.
Todays post is going to be cut short for now. Im having major computer issues. You can see my 2nd card on my SCS gallery. Have a great day.

Wild about flaps

I challenged myself to use bold stamps this week. NO COLORING! So far so good! 2 days of no colored images! I made this card for todays color challenge. The colors are soft sky, basic gray and whisper white. I used PTI white instead and added going gray. I knew when I saw the colors I wanted to use my much neglected wild about you set! Laurief's card yesterday was so cute and I wanted to use her card as my inspiration. I stamped the elephant twice one in going gray and once in soft sky on the soft sky image I used my going gray to add a rock and rolled look for the ear. I cut the elephant and ear out and popped up the ear. I layered the ellie on circle punches and then the scallop punch. I decided to leave the flap sq today instead of rounding it and pierced along the edge. I also added soft sky double stitched ribbon. The going gray layer is stamped with the polka dot background inked in basic gray. I used the circle punches again for the sentiment. I stamped the wild about you on PTI white inked in soft sky. Easy card!
Okay funny story to share. You know with 3 kids its never a dull moment!LOL! I know my story is one of those you had to be there kinda things and you would have to know Alana and some of her cute looks!LOL! Yesterday after we got home from school and we were going through bookbags, homework folders, etc. Alana pulls this paper out and starts reading it and it was something about Disney so I asked her what it was. She said I dont know it says American Red cross and its at the baptist church so of course she wants to go. The child has no idea what it is she just knows it says Disney so of course she wants to go. I said uh-huh. She flips it over and reads again Please give and then she come to me and asks me what the word is as shes souding it out. I said blood. Blood she says why? So I told her they take blood from you and give it to people who need that are hurt or sick. Well how to they take it?she asks. Okay now Im thinking how to I put this! So I tell her its like when you get a shot they use the needle to get blood. Her eyes get really big and she puts her pointer finger up and wiggles it back and forth (in a no no motion) and says oh no I dont want wanna do that. Okay so it may not sound that funny to you but Im here in tears laughing so hard trying to type this b/c it was the look on her face that just made it! So cute! Bet she doesnt care what the Disney stuff is now!LOL!! Have a great day!

Baby Flap

I know you are probably saying HUH!?! from that title.!LOL! Yesterdays technique challenge was to make a flap card. They are super easy to make and super cute! I decided to make Michele a baby card since her shower is this weekend and I havent even made one yet! I used a plate to make my rounded edge on the flap and stamped it tone tone with the stars from background basics. I also used Hollys easy peasy bow. The scalloped image is from So many scallops(SAB). Isnt it cute!?!? Its the first time Ive used it. I wanted to keep the colors simple so I just used white and bashful blue and I used the bashful blue pop (level 1 hostess). I added faux stitching to the pop layer. All edges are distressed and sponged with craft white ink. Now yesterday as I was sponging my phone would NOT stop ringing! I got craft ink all over my hands!LOL! Well the phone calls coming in were for work so I had to hurry and finish my card and get out the door with craft ink on my hands!LOL! Oh well who cares I was working w/4 yr olds. Well as we were eating supper last night my Mom looks over and says who wrote on you w/a marker? I had blue expo marker marks all on my shoulder! Guess the white craft ink wasnt so bad after all!LOL!

Pickeltree Blast

I love featured stamper day! Have I said that before!?!LOL! Amy gallery is amazing! I found her gallery a few weeks ago from Beate wsc. She made a beautiful card with the From the garden Hostess stamp.
I cased Amys booglie eyes card and changed the colors, dp, and stamps. I added the sentiment ww punch layer and the brads. I kept the dots on her card but I used the east coast prep dp.
I started with a white card base and cut the dp to 4x5 1/2. I used a plate to make the curve in the turquoise layer. I used the seeing stars jumbo wheel and wheeled tone on tone. The mustard layer is wheeled tone on tone also. I added faux stitching to the mustard layer and the brads. I love the mat pack! I used it for my stitching and to line up my brads! I used Hollys easy peasy ribbon to make my bow usind wild wasabi double stitched ribbon and 1/4" turquoise ribbon from Taylors share. I stamped the sentiment onto wasabi and puched it w/the ww punch to make a tab.
For my main image I stamped the rocket twice once on PTI white and then on Georgia pacific. I colored the GP layer(gamsol magic) and popped it up on the PTI layer. I went over the stars and some of the rocket with my Sakura silver gel pen I received from my Big Sis. I love it!
Hope you have a fabulous Easter day! I will be back later to share the no coloring card.

Morning Glory

I was not happy at all with my card on Monday so when I saw the color challenge(kraft, orchid opulence, and sage shadow) I knew I wanted to keep it simple. I made this over at Mama's so I had to use her new set that I dont have yet. Its called Morning Soft and includes this beautiful flower image and sentiment. I have been wanting to try coloring w/my prismacolor pencils on kraft paper so the color challenge was a perfect time to do it! I added crystal stickles to the flowers and leaves after coloring. I matted the main image on sage shadow. The orchid opulence layer is stamped with fine lace tone on tone and adhered to the kraft 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 card base. I kept the embellishments limited too but using the kraft taffeta ribbon and a ribbon slider (that I swiped from Mama!LOL) I love this image so you will be seeing it again. It was fun to color and you know Im all about the coloring. Tommorrow I actually have a card to share w/no coloring!*GASP*!

I also wanted to share with you this pic from the beach. We went to the state park while at the beach for Danny and his Dad to fish I think its called St. Andrews. As we were leaving we saw these two deer so of course we had to stop and take a pic. They just kept eating but they were right beside the road so the kids could see them up close and they loved it. Madison saw them and said "Bambi!!"LOL! Gotta love Disney!

Wanted Cowgirl

Happy Hump day!LOL! Sorry no post yesterday but I spent some much needed time with Mama. We had us some serious stamping therapy!LOL! Anyway I took pics of my cards but w/her camera so when I got home I needed to take some w/mine....well it just never happened!LOL!

I ordered this super adorable cowgirl image from MFT and it came in before we went to the beach so I had to give her some ink today! The first time I saw the set all I could think about was pairing it with the SU Outlaw dps. I used todays sketch challenge for the layout and cut 3 dps at different widths. I think they are 2 1/8, 1 3/8, and 1 7/8. All are 3 1/4" tall. I layered them on really rust and distressed the top and bottom then sponged w/choc chip ink. I added faux stitching to the dps. Alot of work but I love how it looks! I also added some ribbon from Joanns the color is natural and is a pretty close match to creamy caramel. For the main image I stamped the cowgirl on very vanilla I colored everything except the dress and arm w/my prismacolor pencils and blended w/gamsol. I paper pieced the dress and sponged. I added hemp to the rope in the image. Boy that was NOT easy!LOL! I dont have small hands! Thank goodness for my Sakura glue pen. I stamped her arm again and colored it to pop up on the rope. I layered the image choc chip and then sage shadow. To finish off my card I punched a star from the dp and popped it up on the corner of my image.

Not so Fabulous!

We're back from the beach! We had a great time but Brayden got sick Sat night so he had to ride home with a bucket in his lap for 4 hrs. My poor baby!

I was sure ready to stamp this morning! Its been a week! Well needless to say I should have waited another day!LOL! I am not at all happy w/my card this morning and thats usually the way it goes for me after its been a few days of not stamping. I stamped the tres chic background on basic gray tone on tone. Todays challenge was to used your ink pad and ink up the negative side of the cb folder. I used the swirls folder and old olive ink. I wanted to try the chalkboard technique again and I thought the bold flower image from fabulous flower would work great for the technique. I stamped the flower image in craft white ink and used my sponge daubers to apply the ballet blue chalk.

Have a great day and I'll be back tommorrow with a better card!

Monday, March 10, 2008

Well this has been a crazy morning already!LOL! Right in the middle of making my card I got a call for a job so I rushed to finish my card and get it posted. I got the card posted on SCS and about that time the phone rang and they didnt need me. Great!LOL! All that rushing for nothing!
Sorry I havent posted in the past few days but last week kicked my tail!LOL! This morning isnt much better. How fast did this weekend go by!?!?! I hate the time change b/c we have to leave the house at 7:15 for the kids to get on the bus at 7:20 and its still very dark this time of year. Okay on to the card...
Todays challenge is something Ive never heard of before but I decided to give it a go. Faux cloisonne' is the technique today you stamp an open image onto a glossy magazine page and emboss in gold. I found a surefit slipcover ad and used it. I pulled the colors from the couch for my card. I used so saffron, mellow moss, choc chip, cranberry crisp. I rarely use gold so I tried to used a few gold embellies on my card. I dont know why I rarely use gold I guess Im just a silver kinda girl. I think I own like 2 pieces of gold jewerly and one is a ring of my grandmothers that is about 100 yrs old now.
I love the sentiments in Happy harmony from last years SAB they are some of my faves so I used one today on my card. The fonts match elegant greetings and well worn words so I went w/well worn words on my so saffron and cranberry layers. I know Im jumping all over the place here!LOL! Be back tommorrow w/a better train of thought!LOL!

Funky Inspiration Colors

Sorry for the late post today but I had to work today and had bus duty at 7:15 this morning(have I said before that Im not a morning personLOL!)

Thank goodness I made another card yesterday so I have something to share w/you today! Beate posted an inspiration challenge on her blog yesterday and I decided to play along. I pulled the colors and flowers from the inspiration. Click on Beate's blog link on the sidebar Fresh and fun.

I've been wanting to try Chat's doodle this flowers and the inspiration piece was a perfect time to do it! I just stamped the large flower from doodle this on pink passion, purely pomegrante, wild wasabi, and tempting turquiose with pallette noir ink. I went over the doodles with my white gel pen. I cut the flower out and used my bones folder to curl the petals. I put a dimensional on the backside of the flower and curled the petals under and attached them to the dimensional. I added some bling to the front of the flower also. I used Jen's sfytt for my layout and used my 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle and square punches. I used the doodle jumbo wheel on all the layers except the black layer.

Hope you have a great day!

Wild Saffron Blossoms

Todays colors challenge was so saffron, wild wasabi, and purely pomegrante so of course I had to do flowers!LOL! My secret lil sis emailed me the other day and in the email she was talking about flowers and said she loved yellow flowers so I made this card for her for her reveal package.

The pop is some of my fave dps. I used the level 1 hostess pack that has wild wasabi the other colors in it are real red, bashful blue, and pretty in pink. I also used some so saffron. The stamp set I used is a retired stamp set I think it was a level 2 hostess set Both way blossoms. I watercolored the flowers and stems-something I havent done in a while. I used Julies mojo Monday sketch 27 for my layout. The sentiment stamp is from PTI in the faux ribbon set. I love all the small sentiments in that set. I had to add kraft into the color combo mainly b/c I didnt have any ribbon in any of the other colors that I thought fit the theme of the card but I have this kraft taffeta ribbon and it seemed to fit better. Hope you have a great day! We are supposed to have some severe weather here today and I hate bad weather! Our land is soooo unlevel that our house is 5 1/2 feet off the ground on one end to have the house level. It touches my shoulder! LOL! Anyway when there is alot of wind it terrifies me!

Chalkboard Essence

I was up for a little challenge last night so I decided to pull one of my new SU sets that have yet to see ink out and give them some love!LOL! I knew I wanted to use Beate wsc37 so I went to the color combo website and hit surprise me. It gave me choc chip, cranberry crisp, taken w/teal, black, and basic gray. Wow! This is what I came up with. I wanted to try a new technique so I went browsing through and saw Beate's tutorial on the chalkboard technique and since you use dark cs it was perfect for the colors! Yippee!LOL!

I love how this card turned out and I stuck w/my challenge except for omitting choc chip from the colors. I love the chalkboard technique and I will be trying it again! So my challenge to you is what I did pick a set and a layout( a SCS sc or a bloggers sc) and find a technique you havent tried then go to the color combo website and hit surprise me and use it! No cheating now!LOL! Heres the link for the color combo website if you dont already have it! http://www.scraptitude.com/colorcombo/

What my hubby did at work

My hubby called me Sat and told me he was looking at an alligator behind the Walmart in Tifton. I thought he was full of it and he came home and showed me these pics. It looks like he got alot of work done doesnt it!LOL!

He was standing in the back of Walmart waiting on this truck to deliver you can see the chain link fence in the 2nd pic so the alligator couldnt get into the parking lot. The kids thought it was cool!LOL! Madison doesnt call it an alligator its a croc-a-didle!LOL! She's so cute when she says it!LOL!
You would have to know my hubby to know his sense of humor and how he LOVES to irritate my Mom so when she asked him if they called animal control and what was he going to do about it his response was wait til he gets about 8 ft long and get someone to wrestle it and put it on pay per view!LOL!

Fs56 Amazing Case

Today's featured stamper is Mary aka Petal Pusher. I cased her Solitude of stamping card and changed everything except the layout and theme of the card. I also added faux stitching and some bling (of course!)

I love how my card turned out this morning! I colored the bird and butterfly w/prismacolor pencils and blended w/gamsol. I love the color combo-groovy guava, cool carribean, wild wasabi, choc chip. I stamped the flower from pretty amazing in cool carribean 2x and popped up the center of the flower and added bling. Today is the first time I've used my jumbo eyelets and they were the reason I decided to case the card since I have several packs of MM jumbo eyelets I've yet to use!LOL!

Have a great day!
