Blog Candy Time

Heres the blog candy I promised! FINALLY! LOL! The winner with get the perfect layer tool and various spools of ribbon and their choice of any card I've made this week. To enter for the blog candy leave me a comment telling me your favorite embellishment and your most forgotten embelishment. I love ribbon I very seldom make a card without it. I have HH and love it but always forget about it but I have tons of ribbon and still buy more every chance I get!LOL! I will draw a winner Monday morning.

My husband and I have a date for tonight which is something we seldom get to do with 3 little ones. We are also going with another couple. ADULT COMPANY YAAYY! So Im looking forward to it! Have you ever seen the movie Where the Heart is? Ashley Judd is in the movie and she has a ton of kids and she goes to pick up Natalie Portman and as they are getting in the car she asks Natalie is she minds if she drives real slow on the way home b/c she'd like to think of it as a vacation. I feel the same way sometimes! I know all mothers have felt the very same way at times! Have a great weekend.

Baroque request

Yesterday I got an email requesting a pic of this card. I made it for a class and didnt like the way it turned out so I went a different direction and did a completely different card. After the class I changed and worked on this card a little more. Im still not thrilled with it but I like it better than I did to start with. The baroque swirl is stamped on the new basic gray with tone on tone and the flower is stamped in bb. I used 3 different ribbons on the card base. Wide bb, silver cord, and basic gray taffeta ribbon. The main image is embossed in silver with cherish stamped in basic gray.

CC129 Best Blossoms

Todays color challenge was pretty in pink, purely pomegrante, and old olive so I pulled out my BG perhaps paper b/c on Emilys sample I saw she used BG paper so I thought I'd go through mine to see if I could find some that is one of the things that takes me so long when Im making a card is find DP with the colors in it so I cheated today I knew ahead of time what paper to use!LOL!

I rock n rolled the flower from best blossoms and stamped the leaves around the flower. I love using this flower w/ the Perhaps DP b/c it matches perfectly. FYI-looks like spring also matches the flower in DP. I used Beates weekend sketch #16 for the layout. Circle of friendship is the top left circle stamped twice in pretty in pink and purely pomegrante and punched out. The lower right circle is the quickutz flower cut out twice and layered on an old olive 1 1/4" circle but its dark in the pic. I also paper pierced the sides of the pretty in pink layer with my old olive ribbon from Taylors share tied on it.

I didnt post yesterday b/c I had nothing to post long story short I resisted the resist challenge yesterday. 3 tries and no card does not make for a happy girl! Then we had some rough weather and lost power. I will post later today b/c its blog candy time!

lsc130 Both Way Blossoms

Todays challenge was a great one! Oldies but goodies! We were to pick an old sketch challenge an old color challenge with stamps that havent seen ink in awhile. I used sc104 and cc93. I also used some other things I havent used in awhile like my SU markers, HH, and colors Ive neglected like sage shadow. When looking through the past color challenges the main thing I wanted was to pick a cc that had at least 2 colors I havent used in awhile. CC93 was rose red, choc chip, blush blossom and sage shadow. I NEVER use bb or ss these colors just screamed flowers to me so I pulled out my both way blossoms. Ive only inked this stamp up 2x since I got it over a year ago but I love it everytime I use it. I colored my flowers w/SU markers. The center of the flowers are colored w/bb and the petals are rr. I stamped over my flowers with lined inked w/cc and stamped off once. I stamped well worn words inked in rose red and stamped on blush blossom. I distressed and sponged the layers.

Sorry no post yesterday. It was Madisons bday and I went to lunch at the school w/her and Alana had a family tree project due today that caused me major stress!

sc138 Taylor Turtle

Hello! This is the card I made for todays sketch challenge. Isnt it funny how you dont notice things about your card until AFTER you've taken the pic of it to upload.LOL! The last tile on this card is turned the wrong way. uh-oh...oh well. NEway this card took a few turns before the last result. When I saw the sketch today I knew I wanted to use my Crate paper scraps from the Taylor collection. I still had some sky blue laying out from yesterday and realized it matched the blue in the paper perfectly. Then I needed to find an image that would fit in the 2" sq diamond panel. I pulled out my cute little turtle since he hasnt seen ink in awhile. I colored my turtle with prismacolor pencils and layered him on choc chip and set him aside to assemble the rest of the card. After cutting all my layers and putting them on my card base I was ready to put my main image on. Another uh-oh my turtle would be sideways. Now...why didnt I think of that before a major duh moment for me. I didnt want to color the turtle again so I decided to cut him out which was harder b/c he was already layered on choc chip. I do like the end result though. Thats what counts right?!?! I think I will go back and add some stickles to the flowers they are colored in sky blue but it doesnt show up very good.

Okay now to go clean and get ready for bday dinners at church tonight. Hope you have a great day!

Groovy Soft Butterfly Kisses

Groovy guava and soft sky are todays color challenge. I knew for todays card I wanted to use Kirstens kickstand card. Arent they adorable!! Check out her cards and directions on her blog you can find it under my blog listing-Confessions of a naptime stamper.

I used PTI butterfly kisses to make my own pp for the card base and the main image on the scallop. I punched holes in the scallops.

I had a hard time getting a pic this morning! I will try later on today to get a better pic.

Well I think my crew is finally getting over sickness although they kept me up all night and today they feel better and I feel like crap b/c I got NO sleep! LOL!

Cami Trifold

Sorry the post is so late. Danny is still sick and he is zero fun when he's sick! I had to wait until I put everyone to bed before posting. This card was created for the technique challenge. Todays technique challenge was a trifold card created by Cambria. There is a complete tutorial at SCS for this cute and fun fold.

I used my new set from MFT Fright Night. I got a set of prismacolor markers the other day at HL and wanted to try them out. I only got 6 colors are they were primary colors so the halloween card seemed to be the wtg. As you can see I need alot more practice using them but I LOVE the vibrant color! I stamped the bats from the fright night set in black stazon randomly on the paper to create my own pp. I also frayed the ribbon tied in my slit on both ends. Nothing really fancy on this card. It usually takes me a couple of cards to get back into my groove when I've gone awhile w/out stamping. Be back tommorrow with more to share.

First Day of School

Okay Im back!! No computer issues, husband at work, kids at school (big sigh)! I promise I have some cards to share with you but first I wanted to share a pic I took of my crew on their first day of school last Friday. Brayden did so great....Mama not so great. I did wait until I got out of the building to cry! He has already gotten sick though the only disadvantage to him not being in daycare. He has also gotten Alana and Danny sick in the process. Nothing major just sniffles and coughing.

I told you we were remoldeing our kitchen last week and Im happy to report it is finished (except my part of course)!Danny left a huge mess that I have been cleaning today and hopefully will be finished before school gets out today.

Yall know Im a dork right!??!! LOL! I had a class yesterday and looked at the calendar and noticed today is the 20th and I kept thinking that the date was something important well its my stepdads bday but I remebered that so it wasnt that. As I was pulling into the yard from the class I remerbered why the date sounded familar! Card swaps!!AACCKKK! I hadnt even started on them yet and they were 10 full cards. So I spent last night coloring the 10 images and finished putting the cards together this morning. (another big sigh!) I usually go ahead and finish my cards a day or two after I sign up so I dont have this to worry about, but LIFE has happened lately. School, SU classes, remodeling, etc. time just snuck up on me.

My blogger is going to have some down time today so I will try to post a card later tonight.

Arent computers fun??!!! Needless to say I still have no computer and I plan to camp out in the office tommorrow until they get it fixed!LOL!

You would think will all of this I would have extra time to stamp. Kids started school and I have some cute stories to share. Kids went to school today and my ds teacher didnt put him on the bus and left him up at the school so Im sitting in Omega in a horrendous line to pick up the girls and I thought get him off the bus and I get a call from DH saying Brayden is still in Tifton 25 minutes away! Not a very good first day!

Ode to Bandit

Okay I have a story to share again! LOL! When I was a little girl I had this stuffed animal that I got for Christmas one year and I named him Bandit. He was a raccoon and I carried him everywhere! One of my fondest memories is my mom, dad, and me went to Eufala (sp) Alabama camping like we did many times but this particular time raccoons kept getting in our tents eating the bread. Well of course Bandit was with me and my Dad was picking at me telling me Bandit was doing it. I know it doesnt sound like something that would be a great memory to you but it was when we were a family and happy and I saw this stamp and had to have it b/c Bandit was the first thing that popped in my head.

Kirsten made an adorable card with this stamp and its how I discovered Hambo stamps. Click on the link to the right Confessions of a naptime stamper to see Kirstens card. This is the first time I've ever ordered from them and Monica is great super fast shipping and she's super sweet! They have some of THE most adorable stamps! check them out www.hambostamps.com

Okay now for the card....I colored Bandit w/SU markers going gray, pumpkin pie, black, and my homemade carribean marker. I layered him on pp and bb. The next layer is gg and bb w/bb brads on the right side. The 3rd layer is SU creepy crawly dp matted on bbwith acetate over it. I stamped the cute sentiment that matches the raccoon w/Stazon on the acetate layer. I pierced 2 corners around the bb mat. Card base is cool carribean. I was super happy w/how this card turned out! I did the layout on my own (no sketch!) Hope you enjoy it!

All in the family bday

I had to wait until today to post this b/c I didnt want to spoil the fun!LOL! I made this card as a thank you for Gidget for letting me hold this set. I love how it turned out! The layout is from Laurens blog. I used cameo coral, black, WW, and tempting turquiose. The girls and party accents were colored w/prismacolor pencils and blended w/gamsol. The balloon is popped up and covered in crystal effects. I drew the string from the balloon to her hand w/my journaler. Hugs and wishes sentiment were stamped in black stazon on cameo coral. I used more ribbon from Taylors share and paper pierced along the top layer.

I am close to 100 posts! When I get to 100 Im going to do a blog candy giveaway it should be coming up soon!

Hi to everyone at the class last night! Glad you all enjoyed the class and hope to see some of your creations soon!

CC126 In Colors

I did get to do the color challenge today! YAAAYYY!! Todays color challenge was cameo coral, blue bayou, sky blue. FYI for those of you who received the prismacolor pencils list to match SU colors. Peacock blue DOES NOT match blue bayou as you can tell in the pic. It was too late to change though so I just left it. So Im on the search for better matches of sky blue and blue bayou for prismacolor pencils.

The layout on this card is from Laurens blog. It worked out great for this card. Soak in the sun sentiment is stamped on blue bayou in blue bayou and the cameo coral layer is stamped w/seeing spots but they are hard to see in the pic.

I have to return this set to Mama today (frown) but I have a card to share w/you later this week that I made this past weekend w/this set that I like ALOT better.

Class reject

While I was busy staming for the class this weekend I made this card but decided on a different card for my class tommorrow. I love the new polka dot background but I love anything polka dots! The base of this card is tempting turquiose stamped w/the polka dots for tone on tone. The white layer is stamped w/polka dots in pomegrante with the stem saying sentiment masked. The sentiment reads always on my mind-forever in my heart but I didnt have room for all of it on the card so the in my heart is stamped on the inside of the card. The sentiment and the grass is wasabi. The flower is from the on board accents. I sponged pomegrante on the flower until it was completely covered then stamped over it with versamark and applied heat and stick powder (man does that stuff stink!) after I heated the heat and stick powder I sprinkled DD over the flower and heated again. The heat and stick powder is great for the DD. I punched a 1 3/8" circle in turquiose and the circle of friendship is layered on it with the center popped up and stamped in pomegrante.

I will try to post again tommorrow since its one of my favorite challenge days although half of my stuff is packed up for the class. Danny saw everything on the table and asked if I was moving out!??!!LOL! No matter how careful I try to be I always forget something! Dont you hate that when you go on vacation theres always one thing you forget!

Have a great night and I will see most of you tommorrow!

Papa's Kids

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I had a stamp filled weekend . My Mom came over about 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and we stamped until about 3:00 and after she left I kept stamping until 8:00 that night. Yesterday I stamped while Danny and the kids watched the race. I needed some stamping therapy though. I didnt get to stamp at all last week. (frown)

I made this card for my stepdad for his bday this month. Someone bought this set and when I took it to her I was picking at her telling her she almost didnt get it b/c I was going to keep it!LOL! She handed me the set and told me if I would mount the stamps for her I could play w/it! Alrighty!!! I thought it was gonna be a booger to mount but it was really easy. After alot of playing around w/the set I figured out the best way for me to line up the bodies and made this card of all the grandkids for my stepdad. They are lined up youngest to oldest from the left. They sure arent perfectly lined up but I think thats what makes it cuter. JMHO. They were so fun to color and the kids loved it. I stamped all the bodies in black stazon on PTI white and colored w/blender pens and pads. I used creamy caramel for all the skin tones. For the hair on the 3 of the girls I used chocolate chip and close to cocoa. For the boy and girl in the middle I used summer sun and close to cocoa mixed for a dirty blonde hair color. All the clothes were colored using the bold brights. For the grass I cut a piece of green galore 1 1/2" and cut into strips and placed a 1/2" strip over the bottom to keep the grass in place. Hugs and wishes sentiment is stamped on brilliant blue in black stazon and I used black 1/4" grosgrain from Taylors ribbon share. The football is colored w/close to cocoa and is up on dimensionals and I pierced the top right corner for a little something extra on the card. It is always so hard when it comes to embellishments on a masuline card I dont want it to look too girly. Hopefully he will think its as cute as I do!

P.S. Im looking forward to the class tommorrow night ladies! Most of what I worked on this weekend was for the class so you will get to see it Tuesday night! Happy Stampin

Inspiration Challenge

What inspires you with this paint sample? The main thing for me was color! I love color its what draws me to a great card.

This was one of the challenges for the Dare to get dirty challenges. There was also an ATC challenge. I love atc's they are 31/2 x 21/2 and great to have for ideas like layouts color combos etc. I chose to combine to create an atc with the colors that in the paint sample.
I love blues and yellows together so I used summer sun, brilliant blue, and bashful blue. I was at my Moms stamping when I made this so I dug into her CTMH stamps and saw this flower that reminded me of sun rays and the sentiment and my atc was born. I stamped the sentiment first then stamped over it with the flower in summer sun. I wanted the flower centered in the middle of the word light so that it looked like sunrays coming out of the word light. I layered the sentiment on bashful blue. The strip of yellow is summer sun although it looks orange in the pic and I applied 3 bashful blue brads.

My shelves are completed and I will have some new stuff to share with you tommorrow. Im so happy with the shelves my husband made for me perfect to hold all my paper! Now I love my dh and he loves to build stuff for me but usually when I try to describe what I want to him the outcome is very different! I just dont say anything b/c I dont want to hurt his feelings and I never know if I just didnt describe it to where he understood what I wanted or he just didnt listen. Thankfully this time we both were on the same page! Tommorrow will be one week before school starts back for us. We go to open house and meet the teachers next Thursday. I am not looking forward to having 2 at home doing homework. Its insane the amount of homework they sent home w/Alana last year in KINDERGARTEN! I never had homework until like 3rd grade. I cant image what shes going to come home w/in 1st grade but at least I know what to expect with Madison in kindergarten this year.

Featured Stamper Lauraly

My hubby is almost throught with my shelves so I hope to be stamping the day away tommorrow. I thought I would share my fs card from Sunday with you today. Lauraly was the featured stamper and she has an unbelievable gallery. I chose one of her older cards to case. The only things I changed on her card was the dp but still kept the circle theme and I used the flowers cuttlebug folder instead of the spots and dots since it went better with my dp choice. I also added a strip of ribbon and hh w/brads instead of a strip of dp on her card.

Stamps: riveting, its your birthday
Paper: paper studio dp, wild wasabi, so saffron, real red
ink: real red, so saffron, bashful blue.
